Etched Rune Guide
What Are Etched Runes?
Etched Runes are special runes that unlock once your Enhancement, Ability, and Blessing Runes all reach a certain grade. Unlike regular runes, they cannot be obtained through chapter farming or Rune Ruins pulls — they are only available through limited sources such as the Fishing Event, Island Shop, Guild Expedition Shop, and packages.
Etched Runes amplify the performance of your Enhancement and Ability Runes. The main weapon types (Arrow of Echoes, Echo Scythe) directly strengthen your arrows, while the remaining Etched Runes generate synergy when paired with specific Enhancement or Ability Runes.
Unlock Requirements — Etched Slot Grades
All Runes Epic
All Runes Legendary
All Runes Legendary+2
Enhancement and Ability Runes can reach Epic and Legendary relatively quickly, but Blessing Runes are far harder to upgrade since they only come from limited sources like the Fishing Event, Island Shop, Guild Expedition Shop, and packages. In practice, Blessing Runes are almost always the real bottleneck for unlocking Etched slots.
When spending currency in events or guild shops, prioritize securing Blessing Runes above all else. Unlocking Etched Slot 1 as quickly as possible is the single biggest lever for overall power growth.
In the Guild Expedition Shop, follow this purchase priority: Divine Forge Cores → Tata Fragments → Orbs → Blessing Runes. Since unlocking Etched slots is the end goal, heavy investment in Blessing Runes is the default strategy.
Etched Rune Types
Etched Runes fall into 8 broad categories. Every Etched Rune reaches its full potential when paired with specific Enhancement or Ability Runes.
Main Weapon
Two runes in this category: Arrow of Echoes and Echo Scythe. Arrow of Echoes Legendary is universally powerful thanks to its automatic diagonal arrow option — it should be the first Etched Rune you push to Legendary, regardless of build. Echo Scythe Rare is a universal staple that increases main weapon ability trigger chance.
Orb
Two runes: Pulsing Orb and Orbital Orb. These have strong synergy with Orb-type skills in Griffin and Oracle builds. If your build revolves around Orb-related Enhancement and Ability Runes, these are a high-priority investment.
Strike
Two runes: Sword Strike Split and Swordstrike Aerie. If you are building around Strike, these are the next Etched Runes to invest in after Arrow of Echoes. They generate meaningful synergy when paired with Strike-related Ability and Enhancement Runes.
Elemental
Two runes: Elemental Crit and Elemental Domain. Essential for Dragon Knight + Elemental/Meteor builds, and also useful as a supplementary option in Griffin and Oracle builds.
Sprite
Two runes: Sprite's Awe and Sprite Assist. Suited for players building around Sprites. Their effect is maximized when combined with Sprite-related Ability Runes.
Meteor
One rune: Meteor Split. A core Etched Rune in Dragon Knight + Meteor builds, used alongside Elemental Crit.
Potion
One rune: Potion Spring. Used in Dragon Knight builds alongside Meteor Split and Elemental Crit, generating synergy with Potion-related Ability Runes.
Plant
One rune: Wave of Life. Relatively low utility in the current meta — consider investing in other Etched Rune categories first.
Build-Specific Etched Rune Recommendations
The following combinations are recommended for the current meta. Secure Arrow of Echoes Legendary first in every build, then work through the build-specific Etched Runes in order.
Griffin / Oracle + Orb Build
Arrow of Echoes (Legendary) → Pulsing Orb → Orbital Orb → Elemental Crit
Elemental Crit is not strictly required, but adds meaningful firepower when included.
Dragon Knight + Elemental / Meteor Build
Arrow of Echoes (Legendary) → Elemental Crit → Meteor Split → Potion Spring
Meteor Split and Elemental Crit are best treated as a pair — try to obtain both together.
Strike Build
Arrow of Echoes (Legendary) → Swordstrike Aerie → Sword Strike Split
Synergy kicks in when your Strike Enhancement and Ability Runes are also in place.
Sprite Build
Arrow of Echoes (Legendary) → Sprite's Awe → Sprite Assist
Etched Rune effects shine brightest when your Sprite Ability Runes are Legendary or higher.

Where to Get Etched Runes
Fishing Event
RecommendedBy far the best free-to-play route. Even without buying extra bait — just completing missions — you can earn roughly 2 Epic Etched Runes. Spending an additional ~15,000 gems on Golden Tickets brings that up to around 4 Epic Etched Runes.
Guild Expedition Shop
RecommendedBuy Divine Forge Cores, Tata Fragments, Orbs, and Blessing Runes first, then spend leftover points on Etched Runes. Routing surplus points here lets you accumulate them steadily over time.
Island Shop
If you haven't reached Divine Forge level 5 on all equipment pieces, spending Island Tickets on Etched Runes is inefficient. Divine Forge materials take priority over Etched Runes in the Island Shop.
Packages / Aurora
If you're willing to spend, packages or Aurora (paid currency) can fast-track an Etched Rune to Legendary. If not, running the Fishing Event twice (~2 months) is enough to fully upgrade one Legendary Etched Rune on its own.
The Fishing Event is the backbone of Etched Rune progression. Participate every time it runs without exception, and build a routine of channeling leftover Guild Expedition Shop points into Etched Runes.
Common Mistakes

Collecting without a build plan
Spreading investment across all 13 Etched Runes puts you far behind players who focus on a specific build. Decide your build direction first, then upgrade the matching Etched Runes.

Buying Etched Runes first in the Island Shop
If Divine Forge isn't at level 5 across all slots, spending Island Tickets on Etched Runes is a poor use of resources. Divine Forge materials come first.

Expecting Etched slot unlock without Blessing Rune investment
Even if your Enhancement and Ability Runes are Legendary, Etched slots won't open if your Blessing Runes are below Epic. Blessing Runes are the real gating factor for unlock.

Delaying Echo Scythe
Even at Rare grade, Echo Scythe raises main weapon ability trigger chance — making it a universal necessity. Pick it up early regardless of your build.
Frequently Asked Questions
QHow many Etched Rune slots are there?
There are 3 in total. Etched Slot 1 requires all runes at Epic; Slot 2 requires all runes at Legendary; Slot 3 requires all runes at Legendary+2.
QWhy does unlocking Etched slots take so long?
Enhancement and Ability Runes can be farmed relatively easily through chapters and Rune Ruins, but Blessing Runes are locked behind limited sources — Fishing Events, the Island Shop, and the Guild Expedition Shop. For most players, Blessing Runes are the primary bottleneck.
QDo I need to push Arrow of Echoes all the way to Legendary?
You get the main weapon ability chance boost starting from Rare, so Legendary is not strictly required. However, the diagonal arrow option at Legendary is powerful in every build, making Arrow of Echoes the recommended first target for a Legendary Etched Rune.
QCan Etched Runes be enchanted?
There is currently no system to enchant Etched Runes. Upgrading their grade is the only way to strengthen them.
QWhere can I see build combination recommendations?
Check the Rune Combination Recommendations page on this site (/rune/combination) for Enhancement, Ability, and Etched Rune combos by build. Review it before committing to a build.
