Universal Talent Guide

Universal Talents are a separate stat system that applies only inside Umbral Tempest. Character stats, relics, gear, and rune effects from chapters and bosses are all ignored — every player starts from the same base stats and levels up using Virtus Dust. That makes how you invest your Universal Talents your only stat-based edge for the season.

This page offers three auto-allocation options (Offensive, Defensive, Balanced) along with a tool that lets you set levels manually and check the total Virtus Dust cost. The most efficient flow is to apply an auto-allocation first, then manually adjust a few talents to match the content you focus on.

Through the "Resonance Legacy" talent in the Universal Talents, you can place 2 characters in resonance slots inside Umbral Tempest just like the regular resonance system. You can progressively inherit not only the Slot 1 and Slot 2 effects, but also each slot's Skin 1 and Skin 2 effects — so place characters that synergize with your main class to leverage during the season.

Recommendations by content: if your goal is clearing Ebonrot, a Balanced or Defensive build that emphasizes survivability is more stable; if you're aiming at the Speed/Damage rankings in Solitary Trial, an Offensive build is the better fit. Decide which content you'll spend more time on first, then choose your allocation.

Universal Talents reset at the end of the season, and you have to gather Virtus Dust again next season to redistribute. Rather than forcing investments to max out late in the season because you have leftover resources, the common approach is to allocate just enough to clear the content you actually intend to play.

Frequently Asked Questions

QDo Universal Talents stack with my regular character stats?

No. Universal Talents are exclusive to Umbral Tempest and don't apply to regular content like chapters and bosses. Conversely, inside Umbral Tempest your character stats, relics, gear, and rune effects are ignored and only Universal Talent stats work — so plan your allocation treating the two systems as separate.

QWhich is better — Offensive, Defensive, or Balanced?

It depends on the content you focus on. For content like Ebonrot where you have to survive a long time to clear, Balanced or Defensive is more stable; for the Speed/Damage rankings in Solitary Trial, Offensive is stronger. You can re-apply the auto-allocation every time you switch content.

QHow do I farm Virtus Dust?

Virtus Dust drops only from Umbral Tempest seasonal content (Solitary Trial, Doomsday, Ebonrot). It is not granted from season missions or store rewards, so you need to clear every available piece of content each week through the season to accumulate enough.

QCan I reset my allocation if I make a mistake?

Players without a pass can reset Universal Talents once per day, and pass holders can reset freely with no daily limit. You can change your allocation as you switch content, so feel free to try the auto-allocation options and then tune them to your playstyle.

QDoes my Universal Talent allocation reset when the season ends?

Yes — at the end of the season, Universal Talents and Virtus Dust spending records are reset. You'll need to gather Virtus Dust again next season, so it's better to spend everything within the season for results than to hoard resources at the very end.
