Beginner's Roadmap

What Is Archero 2?

Archero 2 is a roguelite shooter. Each chapter has 50 stages to clear — you pick abilities on every level-up and grab powerful abilities from Valkyries at stages 5, 15, 25, 35, and 45.

Progression revolves around four systems: character star breakthrough, gear upgrading and fusion, rune fusion and enchantment, and artifacts. The core message of this guide is simple — follow the right priorities and you grow fast; ignore them and you stall for months.

Choosing Your First Character

ThorTop Pick
CleoAlternative
WukongAlternative

Your top priority is Thor. He is the only character who auto-attacks while moving, and he has zero enchant debuff. Every other character takes a 30% ATK speed and 30% ATK penalty when using weapon enchants, which is a massive gap. F2P, expect about 6 months to get him; with the Fund Card, roughly 4 months.

Before you get Thor, Cleo is the recommended pick — top-tier in both PvE and PvP with great all-round utility. Wukong is a strong alternative if you focus on high-chapter PvE. Whichever character you choose, focus all resources on one hero and push them to 5 stars.

Key Rule

Legendary characters are great if you can unlock them, but expensive. For Rare and Epic characters, concentrate on reaching 6 stars — that unlocks 2 resonance slots and is the efficient breakpoint.

First Two Weeks: Priority Order

  1. 1.Push chapters first — chapter clear rewards are by far the biggest source of early growth. Chapter 5 unlocks the guild, Chapter 6 unlocks events.
  2. 2.Join a guild immediately after clearing Chapter 5 — find an active guild that clears all bosses daily. Guild Coins, boss reward chests, and research buffs stack up every day.
  3. 3.Go all-in on Carnival from Chapter 6 — Season 1 (clear Ch.14, spend 70 Chromatic Chest Keys) and Season 2 (clear Ch.21, spend 140 keys) are the biggest reward windows in the early game.
  4. 4.Complete daily quests every day and collect all ad bonuses — that is 300 gems a day. Showing up every day compounds massively over time.
  5. 5.Spend gems on Chromatic Chest Keys — buying keys to hit Carnival event missions is the single most important early spend. Never buy Obsidian Chest Keys.
  6. 6.Do not let energy cap out — energy stops recovering once it hits the limit. Log in 2–3 times a day to spend it and keep your progress going.

Carnival Event

The Carnival event unlocks after clearing Chapter 6 and is the biggest reward window in the early game.

It runs in two seasons — hit the missions in each season to earn S-tier gear, gems, legendary artifacts, and more.

Carnival Season 1

Rewards
  • Dragoon Crossbow (S Epic) — best-in-slot early weapon
  • 850 gems (350 + 500)
  • 5 Chromatic Chest Keys
  • 5 Rune Relic Shovels
  • 5 Prayer Coins
Key Missions
  • Clear Chapter 14
  • Upgrade any gear to Lv.33
  • Reach Player Lv.27
  • Equip 1 Legendary gear piece
  • Spend 70 Chromatic Chest Keys

Carnival Season 2

Rewards
  • Unlock Cat Ninja character
  • 1,050 gems (200 + 350 + 500)
  • Magic Harp (Legendary artifact)
  • 5 Chromatic Chest Keys
  • 5 Rune Relic Shovels
  • 5 Prayer Coins
Key Missions
  • Clear Chapter 21
  • Reach Player Lv.38
  • Upgrade any gear to Lv.48
  • Spend 140 Chromatic Chest Keys
Core Bottleneck

The Chromatic Chest Key spend requirements are the bottleneck. Season 1 needs 70, Season 2 needs 140 — that is why every gem you have should go toward buying Chromatic Chest Keys first.

There are 6 gear slots: weapon, helmet, armor, boots, necklace, and ring. You get gear from chapter farming or Chromatic Chest Keys, and you upgrade rarity by fusing duplicates. Rarity order: Normal (grey) → Advanced (green) → Rare (blue) → Epic (purple) → Legendary (yellow) → Mythic (red) → Chaos (purple). Chapter farming alone can take you to Legendary+3; Mythic and above requires S-tier gear from Chromatic Chest Keys.

Enhancement Scroll progress is permanent — it does not reset when you swap gear. For example, if you enhance a Dragoon weapon to +10 then switch to an Oracle weapon, putting the Dragoon weapon back on still shows +10. Upgrade aggressively whenever you have enough gold and scrolls.

Gear Rule

Enhancement stats are permanent — swapping gear does not wipe your progress.

Blessing

Runes come in four types: Enhancement, Ability, Blessing, and Etched. You can equip 10 total — 4 Enhancement + 4 Ability + 2 Blessing. Enhancement and Ability runes drop from chapter clears. Blessing runes come from the Rune Ruins (via Rune Relic Shovels and events). Etched runes are obtained from packages, fishing events, and the exchange shop.

Runes have the same rarity tiers as gear (Normal → Advanced → Rare → Epic → Legendary → Mythic). Fuse 3 runes of the same rarity to get one of the next rarity up.

Rune Priority

4 Enhancement + 4 Ability + 2 Blessing = 10 slots. Among Blessing runes, Rabbit's Foot (increases ability proc rate) and the Revive Rune are especially valuable.

Gem Spending Priority

Gems are your most valuable F2P resource in Archero 2.

Where you spend them directly determines how fast you grow.

Spend Here
  • Chromatic Chest Keys — essential for Carnival event missions and S-tier gear. Absolute top priority early on.
  • Guild donations 5× daily (200 gems) — raises guild level for shop discounts and earns Guild Coins.
  • Guild merchant purchases — after haggling, prioritize 3 Chromatic Chest Keys, Rare/Epic character shards, and Blessing runes.
  • Daily shop character shards — consistently buying shards for your main character speeds up star breakthrough.
  • Gems toward event mission clears — Carnival rewards (S Epic gear, gems, keys) are the goal.
Never Spend Here
  • Obsidian Chest Keys — never buy these, even for mission tracking.
  • Silver Chest Keys — you get these free daily; there is zero reason to buy them.
  • Prayer Coins — efficient at high-spec but wrong priority for beginners. Stick to the list above.
  • Rune Relic Shovels & Accepted Relic Shovels — those are for rune pulls. Early on, every gem goes to Chromatic Chest Keys.

Guild — Join Immediately After Chapter 5

The guild is not just a social feature. Join as soon as you clear Chapter 5, and find an active guild that clears all bosses every day — that is what matters.

Guild Coins — earned daily, spend in the guild shop for resources and items.
Guild Boss — 2 attempts per day, reward chests drop large amounts of resources.
Guild Research — permanent combat buffs to ATK, HP, and more.
Guild Expedition — weekly activity for extra rewards and XP.
Warning

Being in an inactive guild (bosses not cleared) means missing half your rewards. Finding a good guild early has a big long-term impact.

What to Do When You Are Stuck

The three most common reasons for hitting a wall: not enough gear enhancement, bad ability choices, or gear rarity too low. Even great mechanical skill cannot compensate for insufficient stats — check your gear rarity and enhancement level first.

Wrong ability choices are a very common cause of getting stuck. Check the skill tier list to understand which abilities are top priority for each build type, and always grab core mechanic skills like Multi-Shot, Tracking, and Diagonal Arrows first.

Farm earlier chapters at 2–3× speed to build up gear and resources. If you have been stuck on a chapter for a while, do not force it — play the long game and raise your stats gradually.

Common Beginner Mistakes

  • Buying Obsidian Chest Keys — never buy these, not even for missions. The #1 most common beginner mistake.
  • Wasting gems on gold, scrolls, Prayer Coins, or Rune Relic Shovels — get those from farming and events.
  • Splitting S-gear investment across multiple sets — if you pull Chromatic Chests across different sets, you finish nothing. Complete one set first.
  • Capping out energy — if your energy hits the cap and you do nothing, progress stops. Log in 2–3 times a day.
  • Delaying guild join — join immediately after Chapter 5. Every day you delay means permanently lost rewards.
  • Bad ability picks — not knowing the skill priority for your build type can make a chapter unclearable even with decent stats.

FAQ

QDo I really need Thor?

Recommended. Thor is the only character who auto-attacks while moving and takes no enchant penalty, which creates a real performance gap over every other character. It takes around 6 months F2P, but long-term efficiency is the highest.

QWhat should I spend gems on first?

Chromatic Chest Keys. They are required for Carnival event missions and are the main source of S-tier gear. Spending on Obsidian Chest Keys, Silver Chest Keys, Prayer Coins, or Rune Relic Shovels is not recommended.

QHow should I use Enhancement Scrolls?

Scroll progress is permanent regardless of gear swaps. Use scrolls on Epic (purple) rarity or above and enhance as much as your gold and scroll supply allows.

QWhat do I do when I am stuck on a chapter?

Check gear rarity, enhancement levels, and ability picks first. Use the skill tier list to confirm priority abilities, and farm earlier chapters at 2–3× speed to stock gear and resources.

QCan F2P players really clear high chapters?

Yes. Focus Chromatic Chest Keys, complete the Carnival events, and spend your energy daily — long-term progression is very achievable without spending.
