Class Guide
Umbral Tempest features 4 classes — Ranger, Alchemist, Druid, and Diviner — and which class is strongest depends heavily on your character pool (especially whether you own Thor 5★ and Cleo). This page breaks down the mechanics and requirements of each class so you can decide, at the start of the season, which class will perform best given your roster.
Ranger (Strike class): Thor 5★ and Cleo are practically required. When the Ranger's Strike inherits the main weapon's element, Thor 5★'s lightning and Cleo's passive Strong Flame both proc together for massive stacked damage. If you own both characters, Ranger and Alchemist are tied as the strongest picks — keep both as Tier 1 candidates and choose based on the content you focus on.

Alchemist (Meteor/Potion class): The "Bloodbath" active skill consumes HP in exchange for a large boost to attack and attack speed, making it a powerhouse in Solitary Trial Speed/Damage rankings. The Meteor active skill drops AoE meteors across the entire field in Doomsday and Ebonrot, so the class also performs reliably in AoE content.
Druid (Fairy class): A versatile, all-around class built around the Fairy mechanic. Even without Thor, the Fairy automatically shares the attack load, so it handles almost any content smoothly — it's the top pick for free-to-play and light-spending players or for anyone without Thor. Diviner (Orb class): Uses circular AoE attacks; if you only have Thor, it pairs well with Thor's enchant effect for solid performance. It's a reasonable alternative when you have Thor but lack Cleo or Thor 5★.
Frequently Asked Questions
QCan I run Ranger without Thor 5★ and Cleo?
Not recommended. Ranger's core strength comes from the synergy between Strike's element-inheritance effect and Thor 5★'s lightning combined with Cleo's Strong Flame — drop either one and Ranger loses most of its edge over other classes. If you don't have both characters, Druid (Thor not required) or Diviner (works with just Thor) is far more stable.
QWhich class is the safest pick?
Druid. Thanks to the Fairy mechanic, it clears content reliably even with a thin character pool, making it the top recommendation for free-to-play and light-spending players or anyone playing Umbral Tempest for the first time. If you own Thor, Diviner is also a reasonable safe pick.
QAre different classes recommended for different content?
Yes. For Solitary Trial Speed/Damage rankings, Alchemist's Bloodbath mechanic is strongest, while for AoE content like Doomsday and Ebonrot, Alchemist's Meteor or Druid's Fairy is more stable. If your roster has both Thor 5★ and Cleo, Ranger performs at Tier 1 across all content.
QCan I change classes mid-season?
No — you can't change classes during a season. The class you pick on day one is locked in until the end of the season, so use this page to compare requirements and content strengths and choose carefully on day one. Once you've picked a class, refer to this site's Class Talent page to plan your build.
